“Only the best!” that is the philosophy of the Dieter Fuhrmann fruit and vegetable company in Berlin. The customers of the family business, situated at the Berlin wholesale market, emphasize their need for quality and freshness. “Every day we supply our customers, hotels and restaurants, in Berlin and Brandenburg,” tells Markus Fuhrmann, manager of Dieter Fuhrmann fruit and vegetables, “They appreciate our reliability and first class quality.”

Since 1977 the company has been an integrated part of the Berlin fruit and vegetable sector. And now the company employs 28 staff members, who deliver about 500 products daily via 18 refrigerated transporters.

“Currently our customers’ demand for mangos remains high,” continues Markus Fuhrmann, “Especially the Ready-to-Eat-mangos are in high demand even though these varieties are quite expensive.” Due to fewer fibers in the mango the sales of these varieties have increased significantly in the last few years.

“We only sell Ready-to-Eat," explains Markus Fuhrmann, “Our shelves have a turnover of 24 hours, that means what arrives at our wholesales market one morning, is in the hotel on breakfast buffet the next morning." So the products must be ready quickly.

However the high quality products, distributed to Germany by airfreight, has its price. “Last year the mangos had been really expensive, especially the imported mangos from Peru. They are 3 Euro at the moment.” Because of their popularity, the exotic fruit is an essential part of the fresh fruit range worldwide, not only in Germany.
