The volume of apple concentrate exports from Poland in the first half of the season abruptly fell compared to the same period of 2014/15, reports "APK-Inform: Vegetables and Fruits", referring to the website portalspozywczy.pl.
From August to December 2015 Polish export companies shipped almost 89,000 tons of apple concentrate which is 25% less than in the same period of the previous year. Market participants note that North America most significantly reduced the amount of apple concentrate purchases from Poland. In December 2015, altogether 9 tons of concentrate was shipped to the USA, in the same period in 2014, a volume of 5,400 tons were exported. Deliveries of apple concentrate from Poland to Canada were practically suspended, despite the fact that a year earlier exporters managed to ship over half a ton of these products to the country.
Trade with EU countries also significantly slowed. For example, Polish exporters shipped 10,300 tons of concentrate in December 2015, 25% less than the year before. The volume sent to the UK amounted to 2,000 tons (11% less than December 2014) to the Netherlands- 1,300 tons (a reduction of 13%), to Austria- 600 tons (67% less).
At the same time, market participants say that Russian importers interest in apple concentrate from Poland grows from season to season. In December 2015, Russia purchased 1,300 tons of the product, 30% more than the previous year. At the end of 2013, the volume of concentrate exports to Russia did not exceed a ton.
