US-based refrigerated foods manufacturer Harry’s Fresh Foods plans to expand its operations with a new production facility in Nashville, Tennessee.
The new 200,000ft2 Nashville facility will manufacture branded and private-label products for club, retail and food service industries.
The company is also planning to form strategic alliances in contract-packing and private-label business segments.
Harry's Fresh Foods is planning to make the facility operational in the third quarter of 2016.
Harry's Fresh Foods CEO Jamie Colbourne said: "This expansion increases Harry's capacity on both sides of the country and enables us to offer the same high-quality products with less distance to travel.
"Having a 200,000-square-foot facility east of the Rocky Mountains improves efficiency and available delivered shelf life on the company's fresh, natural and organic products."
The facility reduces the travel distance for its products, resulting in environmental benefits that align with Harry's fresh, natural and organic approach.
Harry's Fresh Foods operations and supply chain vice president John Sucharski, "This move into Nashville likely makes Harry's Fresh Foods the first company in its category to offer manufacturing on both sides of the Rockies."
The Nashville facility was previously operated by Washington-based Oberto Brands, which, in January, decided to close the plant after three years of operation.
Harry's Fresh Foods intends to complete the transaction on 29 April. However, the terms of the deal l have not been disclosed. The company plans to hire 25 employees for the facility on 1 May, with another 60-75 employees to be recruited in July.
Owned by Joshua Green, Harry's Fresh Foods, which began selling clam chowder clam chowder for Pacific Northwest restaurants in 1977, is owned by JGC Food, a subsidiary of Joshua Green.
Currently, the company manufactures refrigerated and frozen soups, entrees, sides and desserts for grocery stores, clubs and food service accounts in over 30 states in the US.
