A new partnership among French fruit growers has BC Fruits capturing a sizeable portion of the French plum market. Based in the southwest of France, where a majority of the country's plums are grown, Boyer and Groupe Capel is supplying fruit for domestic and international consumption. The two companies decided to join forces for their plum sales.
“About 70 percent of the national plum production takes place in the southwest part of France,” explained Jose Barth with BC Fruits, “and our company has about 10 percent of that as its own.” Of the fruit it grows, about 60 percent is sold in France and the remaining 40 percent is shipped throughout Europe.
“We have red, black, green and blue varieties, and all of the fruit is in big sizes,” said Jean Pierre Pizzutto.
