As the economic development model continuously underwent changes and big market and distribution pattern grew mature, a large number of scattered small and middle aquatic product distribution companies faced many problems in business operation. The traditional small and dispersive business model was greatly challenged. With such background, Aquatic Products Distribution Association, a branch of Shanghai Society of Foods, was set up recently in Shanghai. When the association was built, it attracted 136 companies to register as its member, which mainly engaged in the distribution, wholesale and retail of aquatic products. The association office was located in a local aquatic product wholesale market.
At present, the surge of new operation pattern of e-commerce and logistics distribution and so on has pushed the aquaculture industry to transform the traditional business model. The aquatic product business pattern gradually developed from single aquatic species to multiple categories, domestic business operation to intensive business operation including both internal and foreign products. Therefore, to integrate scattered private enterprises and improve the overall level and competitiveness of the whole industry become the imperative priority.
As the branch of Shanghai Society of Foods, Aquatic Products Distribution Association will regulate the industry practice, strengthen industry self-discipline, integrate industry resources, set up a platform, promote healthy industry development, and secure lawful rights and interests of its members.
It’s told that the Association will be dedicated to promote and smooth industrial economic connection between different regions and authorities, represent the industry to engage collective bargaining and put forward comments and suggestions related to industry interest, and investigate the market need and study both domestic and foreign trading trend. It will also carry out industry survey and research, reflect industry’s and member’s appeal to government, participate the formulation and revision of industry standards and access conditions, and propose suggestions for industry integralization and legislation. What’s more, the Association will help to explore market and promote products through exhibitions, fairs and so on. Stabilizing the market price, meeting different levels of consumption demand, creating good competition atmosphere, and promoting healthy market development are also the Association’s target.
In present China,e-commerce logistics is gradually sweeping all industries, exerting its impact on traditional business pattern. How to use the advantage of internet and convenient Logistics, especially for the aquaculture industry which has a high demand regarding product freshness, is a worthy subject for industry insiders to look into and study.
