The success of organic products is regarded as a consequence of the development of prices in Russian supermarkets. As shown by the organizers of the fair WorldFood Moscow 2016, already 4.5 million Russian consumers regularly purchase organic products, and market revenue has reached 185 million dollars.
What is interesting is that as much as 85 percent of Russians claim that they would still buy organic products even after a price increase of up to 10 per cent, and half of them, even with an increase of 20 percent.
It also appears that more and more retail outlets are focusing more on the sale of organic food. For example, last month, the first store of the Greenstore network, which specialises in selling only healthy and organic food opened in Moscow.
Also politicians have acknowledged the growing demand for organic food and are taking specific action. In November last year, President Vladimir Putin said he wants Russia to become the world's largest supplier of eco food.
