China Tea Marketing Association and Greenpeace held different opinions on the investigation result of pesticide residues in tea

On September 19th, Greenpeace issued “Investigation report of pesticides in tea (2016)”. The report indicates that 12 brands of tea samples were inspected with state banned pesticides and multiple pesticide residues, and some samples were even inspected with banned pesticides exceeding limit of national standards. China Tea Marketing Association issued “Several opinions on ‘Investigation report of pesticides in tea (2016)’ of Greenpeace” and strongly rejected the report of Greenpeace for its lack of scientific basis.The survey result of “GMO Testing Center was blamed for counterfeiting” would be issued recently

Recently, the news of an undergraduate doctor of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences whistle-blowing counterfeiting of National GMO Testing Center attracted wide attention. Joint Investigation Group of Ministry of Agriculture inspected the matter on September 20th and concluded that most problems on laboratory specifications were verified, while there were no problems on measurement technologies, and the major problem was management confusion having nothing to do with counterfeiting. Ministry of Agriculture proposed to make 42 Centers nationwide conduct self-inspection and merged some centers.
