Lay’s and Miss Vickie’s Potato Chips Recalled for Salmonella

Core Tip: Frito-Lay is voluntarily recalling some of their Jalapeño Flavored Lay’s Kettle Cooked potato chips and Jalapeño Flavored Miss Vickie’s Kettle Cooked potato chips due to the potential presence of Salmonella in the seasoning.
Frito-Lay is voluntarily recalling some of their Jalapeño Flavored Lay’s Kettle Cooked potato chips and Jalapeño Flavored Miss Vickie’s Kettle Cooked potato chips due to the potential presence of Salmonella in the seasoning. Jalapeño powder provided by a supplier could contain Salmonella bacteria. No Salmonella was found in the seasoning supplied to Frito-Lay, but the company has decided to recall the products. No illnesses have been confirmed to date in connection with this issue.

The recalled products have a “guaranteed fresh” date of JUL 4 or before printed on the front upper panel of the package. All of the multipack offerings recalled have a “use by” date of JUN 20 or before. And a “guaranteed fresh” date of JUL 4 or before is printed on the front upper panel of the individual recalled product packages inside each multipack. The recalled products include 12 count Lay’s Kettle Cooked Multipack Sack, 20 count Frito-Lay Bold Mixed Sack, 30 count Miss Vickie’s Multipack Tray, 30 count Lay’s Kettle Cooked Multipack Tray, and 32 count Miss Vicky’s Multipack Box.

You can see pictures of the recalled product labels at the FDA web site. No other flavors of Lay’s Kettle Cooked Potato Chips or Miss Vicki’s Potato Chips are being recalled. Jalapeño Cheddar Flavors Lay’s Kettle Cooked 40% Less Fat potato chips are not being recalled.

If you purchased these products, do not eat them. Throw them away in a double bagged package or take them back to the place of purchase for a full refund.
