Core Tip: In the Migros supermarket in Zurich, the reusable Veggie Bags for fruit and vegetables have successfully passed their trial phase.
In the Migros supermarket in Zurich, the reusable Veggie Bags for fruit and vegetables have successfully passed their trial phase. So from 18 April, Veggie Bags are sold in all Migros supermarkets in Switzerland.

The transparent, reusable Veggie Bags are an environmentally-friendly alternative to plastic bags, when reused several times, for packing loose fruit and vegetables. A Veggie Bag has a lower environmental impact than a conventional disposable plastic bag if is reused at least six times. These new, high quality bags consist of 100% uncontaminated polyester. Customers can fill Veggie Bags with their selection of fruit or vegetables and stick the price sticker on the fabric patch on the bag. The reusable bags can be washed in the machine at 30°C without any problem.

"Veggie Bags are very popular with customers of the Migros supermarket in Zurich. We are delighted that we can now offer this product to all our customers," states Linda Marugg, Vegetable Range Manager of Migros Cooperative. During the trial phase 200,000 Veggie Bags were sold. If each of these Veggie Bags are reused 20 times, it would save the use of 4 million disposable plastic bags.

With the launch of Veggie Bags in entire Switzerland, Migros offers its customers an opportunity to contribute to the reduction of plastic bags. Four Veggie Bags are sold for CHF 6.90 (about 7 USD) and are available in all Migros stores.
