On 8 June, Vietnam's largest lychee cultivation base in Beijiang province, held the 2017 Vietnam lychee sales conference in Pingxiang city in Guangxi. The vice-chairman of the people's committee of Beijing province, Yang Wentai, came to Pingxiang, which is at the nexus of China's largest land route for the import and export of fruit. The vice-chairman promoted the Vietnamese lychees to all Chinese fruit sellers and consumers that were present, as well as a delegation of the Vietnam trade and commerce department and a delegation of Liangshan province in Vietnam.
Yan Wentai told during the conference that the Chinese market makes up an important proportion of the export structure of Vietnamese lychees. In total, about 50,000 tons of Vietnamese lychees were sold this year. 50% of that amount was exported to the Chinese market. Official statistical data also reveal that in 2016 the Pingxiang harbour processed the import and export of 2.04 million. That is an increase of 44.3% compared to the same time the year before.
