The harvest season of Red Globe grapes from Yunnan Province started at the beginning of June, two weeks earlier than normal. The supply will last till the middle or end of August and the supply of Red Globes from Xinjiang Province will follow shortly. Affected by the climate, the yields of the Red Globes in Yunnan has decreased by 40% compared to last year, said Hebe from Jining Green Stream Ltd.
Currently, the purchase price of Yunnan Red Globes are around 10 yuan per kilo, increasing by 20% to 30% compared to last year. In 2016, the lowest and highest purchase price in the original production area were 7 and 13 yuan respectively.
"We purchase Red Globe grapes from Yunnan and Xinjiang, and pack them right away into plastic or foam boxes. After that, we ship them to the Shenzhen port and export them with the trademark of Greenstream to wholesale markets and supermarkets in countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Every year, the export of Red Globe lasts till the end of November. With the good quality of our products and the reputation of the company, we have gained a stable group of clients in the market of Southeast Asia. Even though there are also Australian grapes exported to the market, they haven't posed a threat to us because of the different harvest season."
