"In the past few years, fruit sales in China have been rather good. There were large profits, so many farmers expanded their production, leading to a surplus. Compared to last year, the grape price has dropped around 10%," according to Mr. Ying of the Xichang Xin Hong Cultivation Cooperative.
"Our cooperative is located in Xichang. Based on orders, we purchase high quality agricultural products from producers all over China, and sell them to distributors and supermarkets in first and second tier cities in Fujian, Guangzhou, Jiangsu, Hubei and Hunan. We mainly deal with cabbages, onions and grapes. Their production seasons are respectively from December until March the next year, the end of March until the end of May, and the beginning of July until December."
"Currently, the grape production is booming. We are mainly selling greenhouse grape breeds, such as Kyoho, Summer Black, red grapes, black grapes, and Crimson, of which the Crimson grapes have become very popular, because of their good taste and exterior, and because they can be stored for a long time. In a while, the Xichang cabbages will enter the market. We are hoping that we can attract purchasers from all over China, so that we can sell these Xichang cabbages on the market."
