A Class II (“Low Health Risk”) recall has been issued for over 9,400 pounds of chicken and beef soup base products by Custom Culinary, Inc. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), these products were mislabeled, with packaging that identified the products as chicken when they might contain beef. The products also contained the soy allergen, which was not listed on the labels.

Packaged on May 25, 2017 and sent to food service distributors nationwide, the products affected by the recall were 6-pound corrugate cases of “MOLLY’S KITCHEN SOUP BASE PASTE BEEF BASE PASTE – NO MSG ADDED” (lot codes 72505 239497 and 72505 239498) and 1-pound white plastic jars of “MOLLY’S KITCHEN CHICKEN BASE PASTE / 301817 / NO MSG ADDED” (lot codes 72505 239497 and 72505 239498). These products bear the establishment number “EST. 2016” or “EST. P-1278” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Class II recalls signify that there is a remote possibility that a product may make people sick. These products should either be disposed of or returned to their place of purchase.
