Media is reporting that Southeastern Grocers LLC has issued a recall for Country Fresh produce products for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. There is no mention of this recall on the FDA’s website. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The recalled products are SEG Tri Pepper Dice in 6 ounces packages with UPC number 3825911565; SEG Stir Fry Vegetable in 10 ounce packages with UPC number 3825911781; SEG Fajita Blend in 12 ounce packages with UPC number 3825911785; and SEG Vegetable Kabob in 23 ounce packages with UPC number 3825977592. They were sold in BI-LO, Fresco y Has, Harveys, and Winn-Dixie stores. The recalled products have sell by dates that range from August 12, 2017 to August 20, 2017.

If you bought any of thee products and still have them, throw them away in a sealed or double bagged package, or take them back to the place of purchase for a refund. Wash your hands well with soap and water after handling them.

Clean out your refrigerator with a mild bleach solution to kill any bacteria. Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can grow at refrigerator temperatures.

If you ate these products, you must watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. Those symptoms include fever, stiff neck, severe headache, muscle aches, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Pregnant women must be very cautious about this illness, since it can cause miscarriage and stillbirth, even though the woman may only have a mild illness similar to the flu. If you do feel sick, see your doctor.
