On November 3, The China Chongqing Tongnan International Lemon Festival 2017 officially began. In the last few years, the lemon industry has become one of the leading economic forces for Tongnan District. That's why at this year's Lemon Festival Tongnan lemons were in the spotlight. Relevant enterprises signed a total of 20 cooperation agreements with domestic and foreign merchants, for a total value of 3.78 billion yuan, 1 billion of which was in foreign orders.
Tongnan District is located at 30 degrees north latitude with an annual average temperature of 17 degrees Celsius. It has acid soil and good irrigation conditions. It is the third most famous lemon cultivation area after California and Sicily. In 2016, the lemon planting area in Tongnan District reached 20,000 ha, produced 230,000 tons of lemons, which comprises 84% of all Chongqing lemons, and had a total output value of 3 billion yuan.
