On November 27th, the Guangxi import and export inspection and quarantine office reported that a riverside bureau of their office examined a shipment of coconuts that came in from Thailand. Upon dissection of a coconut the inspectors discovered the harmful palm mealybug. They have confirmed that this is the East Asian palm mealybug. This is the first time this bug has been intercepted at a Chinese port.
