Pectin is a natural product widely used for its gel formation, thickening, and stabilizing properties in a variety of applications including fruit juices, jams, marmalades, dairy, confectionery and bakery.
The German chemical distribution company will focus on Silvateam’s versatile, clean label, pectin products.
Silvateam is a pectin supplier to the food industry, producing a full range of pectin under the registered name Aglupectin. According to the company, the manufacturing is done in its new factory, based in Rende, Italy, from citrus peels (lemon, lime, and orange) with an annual capacity of 2,000 tons. The company’s unique production process enables the manufacture of bespoke pectin for customized projects and specialty products.
Silvateam also has an application and development center based in Bergamo, Italy, to study the properties interactions and applications of pectin. The use of these extensive laboratories and pilot plants allows its customers to develop their products using the best technical support and to achieve the correct results.
“We are excited about our new relationship with Silvateam and the continued expansion of our value-added, functional ingredient options. The combination of our Food & Nutrition team, new food application lab and Silvateam’s technical expertise position us well to provide quick solutions to our customer’s formulation questions when using pectins,” says Larry Davis, Marketing Director, Brenntag North America.
“Silvateam is a fast-growing company with an excellent reputation in the industry. We are excited to work alongside Brenntag North America to promote our range of specialty pectin,” says Alessandro Di Mase, CEO of Silvateam.
“Brenntag’s strong technical expertise, service orientation, and sales team offer the market our tailor-made solutions for texture, mouthfeel, viscosity, flavor release and suspension.”
Late last year, Brenntag expanded its business in the UK food ingredients distribution market by acquiring Kluman and Balter Limited and A1 Cake Mixes Limited. The companies specialize in the distribution of a comprehensive range of bakery ingredients as well as a large variety of bakery and confectionery mixes.
At the time the company said the acquisition would significantly strengthen its footprint in the country’s very attractive food & nutrition sector that is one of Brenntag’s focus industries in EMEA.
