Senate Leaves the Capitol to Campaign for Midterm Elections
Eager to hit the campaign trail, Senate Democrats agreed to speed up the consideration of several judicial nominations last week so Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., would recess the Senate session earlier than planned. When the Senate comes back to Washington after this extended recess, they will have several priorities to manage, such as deciding on the future of the 2018 Farm Bill and passing government funding bills. Both the Senate and the House have a self-imposed deadline to complete these tasks by Dec. 7, and both chambers will be back in session on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
