Core Tip: Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman has always encouraged people to be creative when it comes to increasing export-scale food production.
Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman has always encouraged people to be creative when it comes to increasing export-scale food production. By doing so, the government's efforts to improve the welfare of farmers and increase foreign exchange rates could be realized.

Now, the Ministry of Agriculture is looking at the export of food commodities that have been developed by farmers in the Indonesian border region with Singapore, i.e. the Karimun Regency. "In this border region there are agricultural possibilities for pineapple, banana, durian, gambier, coconut and so on. The resulting products are of export quality. The region’s location is ideal for exports to Singapore and Malaysia," said the Director General of Horticulture, Suwandi, during the launch of pineapple and banana exports from the Karimun Regency, on Saturday 20th October 2018.

"In the Karimun Regency, 130 hectares are planted with pineapples. This is the first export batch of what will be 10 tons per week. And the Minister of Agriculture wants this to be boosted even higher, at least twice as much," Suwandi continued. He explained that these pineapple and banana exports are sort of a follow-up to the commitment of the Agribusiness Working Group between Indonesia and Singapore.
