A large batch of cocaine was found in several stores in Poland. The drug was hidden in boxes of plantains from Ecuador, reported Polish radio RMF FM.
"The drugs were found in boxes of plantains in different stores of one chain in the provinces of Mazovia, Lodz and Lower Silesia," they stated.
According to the radio station, the drug - some 170 kilograms in total - was distributed in one kilogram bags that were hidden under the fruits.
Polish authorities initiated inspections in the other stores of the chain in question, which doesn't directly import these bananas, to identify the suppliers and importers of the food.
The Polish police confirmed the finding of the drug, and a police spokesperson said they couldn't share any more details, as it could hinder the investigation.
