It’s a good idea to then clean out your refrigerator or pantry, or wherever you stored this Sunflower Butter, with a mild bleach solution to kill bacteria. Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can be persistent and difficult to eradicate. Use a solution of 1 tablespoon liquid chlorine bleach in one gallon of warm water. Wash your hands well with soap and water after cleaning and after handling this product.

If you ate this product, you should monitor your health for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days, because that’s how long it can take for symptoms to appear. If you do feel sick with fever, headache, stiff neck, nausea, or diarrhea, see your doctor.
