Oskri Organics Corporation of Lake Mills, Wisconsin is recalling Oskri Organic Sunflower Butter and Thrive Sunflower Butter for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. No illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall.
The recalled product include 2 jars of Oskri Organic Sunflower Butter with lot number 099, expiration date 10/2019, and UPC number 666016401295. It was distributed to retail stores in Ohio. The second recalled product is Oskri Tahini Butter with lot number 193, expiration date 1-2020, and UPC number 666016401301. It was distributed in California, Arizona, Georgia, Connecticut, Indiana, Texas, Florida, Idaho, South Carolina, and New Hampshire in retail stores and through direct delivery from internet sales. Finally, Thrive Sunflower Butter, with lot number 233, expiration date 2-2020, and UPC number 671635704825 was sold in Indiana through internet sales.
The recalled products are packaged in 16 ounce plastic jars. The lot number is either on the top or bottom of the jar near the expiration date. The Oskri Organic Sunflower Butter container is greenish-khaki color; the Tahini Butter container is a light tan butter, and the Thrive Sunflower Butter container is a greenish-khaki color.
One of the company’s customers randomly sent their product in for testing and it was positive for Listeria monocytogenes. The company is testing to find the source, and has stopped production and distribution of the product. There is zero tolerance for Listeria monocytogenes bacteria in ready to eat product.
If you bought any of these three products, don’t eat them. Throw them away in a sealed package in a secure garbage can, or take them back to the store where you bought them for a refund.
