China is one of the largest pepper producers in the world. The production areas are widely distributed across the country and the annual production volume is massive. The steady expansion of surface area devoted to pepper plantation in Guizhou, as well as stable weather conditions, lead to increased pepper production volume in Guizhou. In other production areas, however, such as Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, and Jilin, extreme weather conditions severely reduced this year's production volume. The overall production volume is relatively stable this year at the same level as last year." This is according to Mr. Bai of Dalian Nongchang International Trading Co., Ltd.
"Our freshly frozen peppers come from 67 thousand hectares of our own pepper plantations as well as 1.3 million hectares of cooperative pepper plantations. The product variety includes Golden Pagoda, Beijing Red, and Thousand Gold Red. We provide year-round supply of peppers, but the main season begins in October and continues into February of the subsequent year. The current market price is similar to last year's market price."
"Our freshly frozen peppers are mainly destined for export. We mainly export to retailers and pepper processing factories in South Korea. The monthly export volume to South Korea can reach 70-100 shipping containers. The annual export volume to South Korea can reach 20-30 thousand tons."
