Symrise’s commitment to sustainability in the supply chain has been recognized by winning first place in the category “Germany’s most sustainable large corporations 2019.” In addition to Symrise’s commitment to climate protection, the decisive factors were its efforts to preserve biodiversity and to support the living conditions of small-scale farmers along the supply chain who consistently meet the highest ecological and social standards. After receiving an award in 2012 and being a finalist in 2016, Symrise has now received the coveted prize for a second time. In a ceremony attended by 1,200 top-ranking guests from politics, industry, cities, research and society, Symrise’s CEO Dr. Heinz-Jürgen Bertram accepted the German Sustainability Award from Environmental Minister Svenja Schulze at a gala event on December 7, 2018, in Düsseldorf.

In brief: Milestones
The American Egg Board is celebrating the life of its first president, Lou B. Rafffel, who led the board for 30 years until his retirement in 2006, always driving the demand for eggs and egg products. Realizing the value and need for nutrition research from the American Egg Board’s beginnings, friends remember him saying that it would take almost 25 years to change the dialogue related to eggs’ role in healthy living. Decades later, the American Egg Board notes its Egg Nutrition Center continues to benefit from his insight.
