Hello Fresh Canada Inc. is recalling some Hello Fresh and Chefs Plate brand Meal Kits for possible Salmonella contamination. Canada Herb has recalled the red chili ingredient in those meals has been recalled. No illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported to the company to date in connection with this problem.
The Meal Kits were distributed in Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec.
There is no UPC number on these products. The recalled Hello Fresh products are Hello Fresh brand Coconut Dal meal kit in 902 gram kits, with code Best Before 19 JA 29 WK19041920 2P; and Hello Fresh brand Coconut Dal meal kit in 1804 gram size, with code Best Before 19 JA 29 WK19041920 4P.
The Chefs Plate brand Meal Kits recalled include Chefs Plate brand Beef Chow Mein meal kit in 856 gram size, with code January 19, 2019 (A2) and January 22, 2019 (A2). Finally, Chefs Plate brand Beef Chow Mein meal kit in 1712 gram packages is recalled, with codes January 19, 2019 (A4), and January 22, 2019 (A4).
If you purchased these kits, don’t eat them, even if you heat them first. Some bacteria can produce toxins that are heat resistant and can make you sick. Throw the kits away in a sealed or double wrapped package, or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
The CFIA is verifying that the company i9s removing the products from the marketplace. Other recalls may be issued over time as the CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation.
