A quick transformation into tasty juice is what is needed to promote pomegranate consumption and WellnessFruit seems to have achieved just that, thanks to automatic juicers for bars and restaurants and manual juicers for use at home.
"We have displayed our equipment and products at Sigep and feedback was very positive. Pomegranate juice has high nutritional levels and tastes great. All it needs is simple equipment that is easy to use and that maintains vitamins and nutritional components unaltered," explains Wellness Fruit representative Matteo Dal Pane.
What is more, the Melodrink project envisages a continuous supply of the fruit 365 days a year as, once the juice gains popularity, bars cannot afford not having it available.
Pomegranates grown in Italy are supplied during production months and as long as storage allows it. During the rest of the year, they come from the Mediterranean basin or from the southern hemisphere. There are 5-6 varieties available, but Wonderful is the most popular: it is tasty and stores well, but does not produce a lot of juice unlike Acco.
"We have made consuming a fruit that is otherwise complicated to peel and enjoy, much easier and feedback is great. People like pomegranate juice. We are very pleased with what we've done so far, but now we need to make sure it is not just a fad, as this beverage is very healthy thanks to its high concentration of antioxidants.
