It is reported that in 2018, there were 2 287 aquaculture-related enterprises with the third-party certification of Best Aquaculture Practice (BAP), an increase of 29% over the previous year.
Among of them, 1,534 farms, 370 aquatic processing plants, 45 additional factories, 220 hatcheries and 118 feed processing factories are included.
In addition, 245 farms have received Bapi certification, but are currently idle. The other 1500 farms produce more than 1.5 million tonnes a year.
In the past four years, the scale of BAP projects has more than doubled, from more than 700 aquaculture-related enterprises certified by Bapi at the end of 2014 to more than 1500 by the end of 2016 to 1778 by the end of 2017, which demonstrates the long-term commitment of the aquaculture industry to adopt responsible aquaculture methods.
