On December 28, 2018, the Russian Consumer Rights Protection and Social Welfare Supervision Agency announced that the decision on mandatory labelling of genetically modified products had entered into force in five countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia). Regulations stipulate that if the content of GM ingredients in products exceeds 0.9%, it is necessary to label "containing GM ingredients" on the packaging. Exporters must label GM raw materials exported to Russia.
