Bellisio Foods of Jackson, Ohio, is recalling about 173,376 pounds of a specific type of frozen Boston Market pork patty because they may be contaminated with foreign material, more specifically pieces of glass or hard plastic. This can pose a choking hazard, or mouth injury. No adverse reactions or injuries have been reported to the company or the government to date.
These frozen, not ready to eat boneless pork rib patties were made on dates ranging from December 7, 2018 through February 156, 2019. The recalled item is 14-ounce black cardboard box packages containing “BOSTON MARKET Home Style Meals BONELESS PORK RIB SHAPED PATTY WITH BBQ SAUCE & MASHED POTATOES. The best by dates are 12/07/2019 with lot code 8341, 01/04/2020 with lot code 9004, 01/24/2020 with lot code 9024, and 02/15/2020 with lot code 9046, on the label. These items have the establishment number “EST. 18297” on the end carton flap of the package. They were shipped to a Department of Defense facility in Tucson, Arizona, and to retail locations nationwide.
Consumer complaints prompted this recall. FSIS was notified about the problem on February 22, 2019.
If you bought this item, do not eat it. Throw it away in a sealed container, or take it back to the store where you bought it for a full refund.
FSIS thinks that some of this product could be frozen in consumers’ home freezers. Check your freezer carefully to make sure you don’t have this product.
The government will release a retail distribution list when and if it becomes available. They will also conduct retail checks to make sure the company has informed its retailers about this issue.
