Fulton Seafood of Houston, Texas is recalling about 100,924 pounds of Siluriformes fish products, more specifically wild caught catfish, because the fish was produced, packed, and distributed without inspection. No illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
These catfish were produced on different dates from January 1, 2018 to February 21, 2019. The recalled items are 60 pound brown cardboard boxes containing “River Catfish Wild USA.” When these boxes were delivered to stores, the catfish was removed from the boxes and put into seafood display cases for purchase. They were shipped to locations in Texas. Because there was no inspection sticker, there is no establishment number on the product.
On February 19, 2019, an FSIS inspector saw the products with no marks of federal inspection while he was working in a cold storage facility. If you purchased this item, do not use it. If you aren’t sure if the catfish you bought was sold by this company, ask your retailer. FSIS is concerned that some of these fish could be frozen in their freezers.
Check your freezer carefully. If you have this product, throw it away or take it back to the place of purchase for a full refund.
