On February 21, the Kenyan government has reopened its doors to Chinese seafood. In November last year, the President of Kenya issued an ban on cancelling all imports of Asian seafood, especially from China, in view of the impact on the fishery market.
Before the ban coming into effect, a large number of people opposed the importation of large quantities of fish from China, believing that it posed a serious threat to their fisheries. However, the ban led to a shortage of fish supply in Kenya's domestic market and was abolished less than three months after its implementation.
