UK-based food manufacturer 2 Sisters Food Group (2SFG), the parent company of Fox’s Biscuits, is planning to cut nearly 300 jobs at its manufacturing site located in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, England.
The move is said to be part of 2SFG’s operations review process on the loss-making facility.
2SFG confirmed that the company is planning to cut nearly 250 job roles at the Uttoxeter facility and 50 roles at the distribution centre in Brunet Court, Wakefield.
Fox’s Biscuits has a workforce of 780 employees at the manufacturing site. It also has facilities in Batley, West Yorkshire and Kirkham in Lancashire.
A 2 Sisters Food Group spokesperson said: “As part of this plan, we have informed colleagues there are a number of tough decisions to make as we review manufacturing capabilities to give us the best possible chance of sustained success.
“Regrettably, our loss-making site in Uttoxeter requires urgent attention and biscuit production lines need re-configuring to ensure it has a longer-term, viable future.
“This means we will be entering into consultation with our colleagues around proposals to restructure the site. Around 250 roles will be at risk of redundancy. Additionally, a smaller number of colleagues, around 50, at our Uttoxeter and Wakefield distribution centres will also enter into consultation as we explore proposals to out-source this warehousing work.”
Earlier this month, 2SFG completed the divestment of its Green Isle Brands frozen food business.
A consortium of investors led by food industry executive Maurice Hickey and the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund acquired Green Isle Brands from Boparan Holdings, the parent company of 2SFG.
