Sustainability and innovation go hand-in-hand as retailers, producers and growers look for ways to reduce reliance on unsustainable packaging and find environmentally friendly packaging solutions. Behind each sustainable packaging solution is a journey. At the Asia Fruit Business Forum 2019, you can find out about the challenges Sinclair faced in developing the Sinclair EcoLabel® as a certified compostable packaging solution.
On 5th September 2019 at 11:00, Wil Murray, Senior Director of Operations at Sinclair, will be hosting the seminar ‘Going Green: sustainable packaging solutions for fresh produce.' The seminar will outline the journey and challenges toward achieving an industry first for fresh produce packaging. The Sinclair Ecolabel is a unique food-safe label solution designed for use on high-speed, automated labelling technology. It is the first fresh produce label with its full construction – face stock, adhesive and inks - independently verified by TÜV AUSTRIA as fully compostable under OK compost and Seedling certifications.
Development of the compostable label began in 2008. The journey to achieving a food-safe, compostable has been challenging, but the Sinclair Team has made no compromises.
Wil Murray noted: “We were early to the table in tackling the challenge of providing the industry with a compostable fresh produce label, but it has been a long road with many challenges. Our skilled project team, with the support of our customers, are delighted to have delivered a recognized and certified compostable label solution. The Sinclair EcoLabel provides retailers, producers and growers, as well as ourselves, the opportunity to reduce the environmental impact of packaging but still achieve brand and POS objectives efficiently.”
