Fooditive B.V. and Frutco AG have announced their partnership to launch the Fooditive® banana sweetener line worldwide. Fooditive B.V. reaffirms its commitment to fighting food waste and increasing sustainability, and its promise to provide consumers with the highest quality products. Frutco® is one of the largest processed tropical fruit companies in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and South America. Frutco® will be the exclusive partner to apply Fooditive production methods for bananas, and to industrially produce and distribute Fooditive® banana sweeteners, the Swiss company's management reports.
"Investing in sustainable resource management in the food industry, using affordable technologies, helps our customers minimize their carbon footprint. To further strengthen their commitment in the fight against food waste and for sustainability in the food industry, Fooditive B.V. and the group of companies around Frutco are building a continuous fermentation plant," according to Frutco AG. It will process sidestreams - from banana processing, among others, but also from other tropical fruits - into fruit extracts and sweeteners.
Conserving resources, protecting the environment and strengthening health

Processing any by products
The plant will use the latest technology from Fooditive B.V.. It will enable the processing of all types of by-products from fruit and vegetable processing. Emergence of a lighthouse project
The project and production capacity will be ground-breaking for the industry. It is the first continuous fermentation for the production of sweeteners and functional ingredients. The project started in January 2021 and is scheduled to last 1.5 years, allowing the fermentation plant to go into production in mid-2022. "The new plant will create more local jobs and provide the opportunity to create healthier solutions for the food industry," the Frutco management concludes.
