Indian shallot exports hit all-time high

The export of Indian shallots surged to an all-time high of USD 11.6 million in April-December 2021. According to a Ministry of Commerce and Industry spokesperson, major export destinations for shallots during April-December 2021 were Sri Lanka (35.9 percent), Malaysia (29.4 percent), Thailand (12 percent), UAE (7.5 percent) and Singapore (5.8 percent).

India's export of pineapples also went up by almost 100 per cent to USD 3.26 million during April-December 2021 compared to USD 1.63 million during April-December 2013. Major export destinations for pineapple during April-December 2021 were UAE (32.2 percent), Nepal (22.7 percent), Qatar (16.6 percent), Maldives (13.2 percent) and the United States (7.1 percent).
