Shortly, Abkhazian tangerines will appear on Russian shelves; however, this year, their availability will be limited due to an unproductive season, as reported by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of Abkhazia.

Last year, more than 39 thousand tons of citrus were exported from this region. This year, a decrease in the citrus harvest to approximately 30 thousand tons is anticipated, as stated in the statement from the Ministry of Agriculture of Abkhazia.

A portion of the harvest will be ineligible for export due to its non-standard shape, while another part will be retained to meet domestic demand within the republic. Additionally, natural losses due to mechanical damage are inevitable during the harvest.

The reduction in the citrus harvest is not linked to tree diseases. Experts note that fluctuations in harvest volume range from 20 to 40 thousand tons, and the current result, although below average, is not something unprecedented.

Hopes for a more productive next year remain, noted the chief agronomist.
