At one of the bases in the Yekaterinburg region of the Russian Federation, seven tons of kiwi infected with the mulberry shield were discovered. The insect came from kiwis imported from Iran.
The regional Rosselkhoznadzor reported this. Insects were found by employees responsible for quarantine and phytosanitary control. Rosselkhoznadzor called the mulberry shield a "quarantine harmful organism."
Even though the fruit was infected with harmful insects, the decision to send kiwis to stores was made due to the lack of a threat to human health and the inability to reproduce the mulberry shield in this region.
