Mumbai to host international horticulture, agri expo Flora India

The Bombay Convention Centre, Goregaon, Mumbai will host Flora India 2013 (http://www.floraindia.co.in), an international exhibition on horticulture & agriculture.

Speaking on the occasion, K L Velodi, chairman, seminar and conference, ProExhibitions Events, Mumbai, says, “We foresee a great potential for our young entrepreneurs in horticulture, but due to lack of information, facilities and resources, the younger generation is not really aware of the latest trends and potential of the horticulture sector.” He added, “Flora India will bridge the trade gaps in the horticulture industry at the local, national and international level.”

Flora India 2013 will be projecting India’s horticulture industry to empower Indian entrepreneurs. This exhibition will have a B2B exhibitions and seminars with the industry leaders. “We are receiving enquiries from several states and districts across India. Entrepreneurs from both the metro and the non-metro cities are very excited to be a part of this global platform,” says V K Ogale, advisory committee, ProExhibitions India.

Exhibitors at Flora India will also benefit by having face-to-face meetings with various trade associations, bureaucrats, licensing authorities, importers, exporters and the related business community including technical consultants. There will be several informative sessions to explain and know more about the technological advances in the horticulture sector.

This is a unique opportunity for players big and small in the field to interact and further business ties.

Over the years, horticulture industry has emerged as one of the potential agricultural enterprises in accelerating the development of the world economy. According to World Bank reports, horticulture alone accounts for 30 per cent of India’s agricultural GDP from 8.5 per cent of cropped area. Strengthening the country's nutritional security, poverty alleviation and various employment generating schemes, presently the horticulture segment attracts a large number of stakeholders. While transcending the traditional mindset of horticulture in rural confines, it gains great momentum for commercial productions and this changing scenario has boosted the horticulture industry like never before.
