Rice sown in 191.06 lakh hectare; all kharif cropped areas increase

Core Tip: According to the latest information received from states, rice has been sown in 191.06 lakh hectare, as compared to 144.59 lakh hectare last week. The normal cropped area for rice at his time of the year is about 199.77 lakh hectare.
The cropped areas of other kharif crops as compared to those last week and this time last year are as follows:

The area under cultivation of coarse cereals, whose normal cropped area is about 160.86 lakh hectare, grew from 95.43 lakh hectare to about 117.48 lakh hectare in the last seven days.

That of pulses, whose normal cropped area is about 79.82 lakh hectare, was about 40.19 lakh hectare last week. It grew to 62.99 lakh hectare this week.

That of oilseeds, whose normal cropped area is about 134.45 lakh hectare, was about 108.84 lakh hectare last week. It grew to 138.33 lakh hectare this week.

That of sugarcane, whose normal cropped area is about 47.03 lakh hectare, was about 52.81 lakh hectare last week. It grew to 52.85 lakh hectare this week.

That of cotton, whose normal cropped area is about 94.02 lakh hectare, was about 83.74 lakh hectare last week. It grew to 97.24 lakh hectare this week.

That of pulses, whose normal cropped area is about 8.22 lakh hectare, was about 8.27 lakh hectare last week. It grew to 8.29 lakh hectare this week.
