Core Tip: Muller Quaker Dairy, a joint venture between PepsiCo and the Theo Müller, has started the construction of $206m yogurt facility in Batavia, New York, US.
The 350,000ft2 facility will be located on 82-acre land at Genesee Valley Agri-Business Park. It will produce a range of new yoghurt products.

PepsiCo Chairman and CEO Indra Nooyi said the new venture increases the company's presence in New York, while providing an opportunity to build the portfolio and capture the significant growth in the US dairy category.

Theo Müller board member Stefan Müller said the company's joint efforts with PepsiCo will open the door to new yogurt options for consumers.

The first phase of construction is scheduled to be completed in 2013.

Muller Quaker Dairy noted that it will source its milk supply from US dairy farmers, with the majority coming from New York State and northeast region dairy farms.
