Core Tip: Cucina Fresca Gourmet Foods is recalling tomato sauce products in the US as they may contain milk, which is not declared on the label, according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Consumption of these products may lead to a serious, life-threatening risk to buyers who may have an allergy or sensitivity to milk.

Cucina Fresca Gourmet Foods noted that the 'Cucina Fresca Smoked Tomato Sauce' labeled jars actually contain 'Cucina Fresca Tomato Vodka Sauce', which contains milk as an ingredient.

The products affected by the recall are 24-ounce Cucina Fresca Smoked Tomato Sauce in glass jars - lot 11002A or 11002B and UPC code 8-84337-00522-4. They were distributed to select Pacific Northwest Whole Foods and Quality Food Center locations in Oregon and Washington states at the end of June 2012.

The error has not been linked to any illnesses. No other Cucina Fresca packaged good products or refrigerated sauces are affected.

With the recall, Cucina Fresca will be withdrawing all mislabeled products off shelves at Whole Foods and Quality Food Center stores, and replacing them with correctly labeled product.

Consumers who have purchased Cucina Fresca Smoked Tomato are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Cucina Fresca Gourmet Foods is a producer of natural gourmet foods for retail and foodservice in the US.
