The Philippines imposed a ban on poultry items from the Netherlands due to an outbreak of low pathogenic avian influenza in the country, according to news reports.

The Philippines has temporarily stopped buying poultry meat, wild fowl, day-old chicks and eggs from Utrecht, Netherlands. Agriculture officials in the Philippines said they received official notice about the outbreak from the World Organization for Animal Health that H7N7 was found in free-range laying hens in early August. Agriculture officials said shipments of poultry and poultry products from the Netherlands would be confiscated, with the exception of heat-treated items, according to news reports.
