Answering a question from fisherman, Renato Schoennemayer of Barra Velha, on government actions to ensure the careful marketing of fish, President Dilma Rousseff explained that the National Network of Laboratories was created in April 2012 to officially certify fish.
"We have already invested $16 million in training and this will reach $55 million over the next five years. We are also restructuring programmes for the prevention, control, monitoring and surveillance of diseases, contaminants and residues of fishery resources. We rely more and more on fishermen to take the same precautions in their work, "he said.
President Rousseff also stressed the government's stance on combating tax evasion, smuggling and piracy in the country.
