Italian bakery firm Battistero will reportedly inject €50 million in a panettone bread production facility in Romania.
The Parma-based cake maker will open the facility in Jucu in Cluj by September 2013 and create 500 new jobs, according to Romanian newspaper Adevarul.
The 28 hectare factory will produce the sweet bread for consumption in eastern Europe and Scandinavia and is expected to turn over €100 million by 2015.
“We will produce panettone and biscuits at Jucu. Strategically it will be a very important production unit,” Felice Moretti, Battistero’s owner told the paper.
