"Breaking New Frontiers - Through Automation, Innovation and Invention" will be the focus of this year's food industry event - The Asia Pacific Food Tech, Innovation & Safety Conference 2012 to be organised by the Pinnacle Group International and Singapore Food Manufacturers' Association (SFMA) on Nov 16, 2012.

This year's theme will focus on product innovations in food development, manufacturing and food safety for the future. Innovations that will change the game plan of existing models to cater for the ever-changing realities of a fragmented customer market, an ageing population, cost pressures and manpower issues.

The conference will be co-located with the Asia Pacific Food Expo (APFE) at the Singapore Expo. The APFE, which will be held from November 15 - 19, 2012, is the ninth installment of the event.

Capitalising on the growing trends of the food market in Singapore, APFE aims to bring the best food from the Asia Region into Singapore and place Singapore as the food hub in Asia. Visitors this year can now take part at the conference and network with key decision-makers from the region while conference delegates can visit the exhibition, which is located on the same venue.

Industry leaders and global experts attending the event will include - Cliona Murphy, senior director, research & development, PepsiCo Asia Pacific; Wouter Claerhout, marketing director, Asia Pacific, DSM Nutritional Products; Wong Mong Hong, president, Singapore Food Manufacturers' Association; Bill Simos, MD, HACCP International; Marg Will, CEO, Organic Systems & Solutions; Gary Dykes, professor of food science and technology, Monash University; Dr Nazlin Imram, regional beverage category and insights director, Symrise Asia Pacific Pte Ltd; Michelle Siow, assistant director, Centre for Innovation and Enterprise, Republic Polytechnic; Nicola Colombo, chief sales officer, Selerant; Garrett Zielinski, senior technical leader, Covance Laboratories; Gianfranco Matteucci, partner, Marks & Clerk Singapore; Chitra Ananda, regulatory advisor, Registrar Corp; Dr Pornsri Laurujisawat, VP, Charoen Pokphand Group; and Prof. Zhou Weibiao, director of food science & technology programme, National University Singapore.

The event is expected to attract over 200 senior industry professionals at the conference accompanied by Asia's largest food fair attended by over 500,000 visitors every year.
