The facility in Norton, North Yorkshire is set to open in April 2013.

As revealed by FoodManufacture.co.uk in August, the new site will manufacture premium meat-based pastry products in collaboration with pasty and pie manufacturer Yorkshire Baker.

Yorkshire Baker will expand production of its existing lines and introduce new lines to meet growing demand for its products.

Hull-based meat supplier Cranswick will supply the meat.

A spokeswoman from the firm said: “Once completed, this will enable Cranswick to significantly upscale current operations.”

Darren Shirley of Shore Capital told FoodManufacture.co.uk in August: “Pastry will not be an overnight sensation in the quantum of sales at a group level, in our view. But it does provide a complementary basis to provide for meaningful and sustainable additional growth for the group.”
