Diageo Ireland is planning to start its new $252m (€153m) brewing facility at the St. James's Gate brewery in Dublin, Ireland, by the mid-2013.
The company has formally launched construction of the facility, which is the fourth such structure to be built at the brewery in its 250-year history, reports irishexaminer.com.
The facility is expected to produce 7m hectolitres per year, the company said.
Diageo group chief executive Paul Walsh told the website that the investment demonstrates the company's commitment to Ireland.
" Ireland is home to two of our top brands -- Guinness and Baileys -- and beer is a core part of our business," he added.
The expansion plan was first announced at the beginning of 2012, however, the company extended the plan for a mega-brewery in Leixlip.
