A Virginia company is recalling 1,440 pounds of its chicken nugget products because they contain milk, a known allergen, that is not declared on packaging.
Perdue Foods, LLC of Bridgewater, VA issued a voluntary recall of its chicken breast nuggets Tuesday after it discovered that the nuggets, which had undergone a recipe reformulation, contained milk that was not listed as an ingredient on product labels.
Products subject to recall include are bundled packages including three 12 oz. tray packs of Purdue Original Chicken Breast Nuggets. Packages bear establishment number P. 369 inside the USDA mark of inspection and a sell-by date of December 16, 2012.
The recalled nuggets were produced on October 16, 2012 and distributed to retail stores in Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
The retail distribution list will be posted on the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service’s website when it becomes available.
