US firm Capsugel has confirmed that its facility in Colmar, France has been awarded European organic certification for the production of its plant-based Licaps supplement.
The award covers all six of Capsugel’s vegetarian supplements as well as the manufacturing process.
Capsugel uses its Vcaps Plus Technology and a plant derived cellulose called Hypromellose (HPMC) to make the products.Licaps' one-piece hermetically sealed shells contain no gelling agents.
“The organic certification of Capsugel’s Colmar facility for plant-based Licaps capsules adds to the company’s comprehensive line of vegetarian products for the healthcare market,” said Catherine Lehmann, Capsugel's director of marketing for EMEA.
“From our recently introduced Plantcaps capsules to our innovative Vcaps Plus capsules and DRcaps acid resistant capsules, customers have a range of vegetal origin capsule options that meet the demands of the savvy green customer.”
According to data from the Global Organic Foods & Beverages Market Analysis (2010 – 2015), Europe is the largest market for organic food, beverages and supplements.
