Brazil had exported $106.9m worth of coffee to the Arab world during January to June (H1) of 2012, a 1.52% rise in revenues against the same period last year, as per the latest data by the Brazilian Coffee Exporter Council (Cecafé).
The Arab world had imported 526,464 pieces of 60kg coffee bags from the country during the period, Cecafé said.
According to the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, Brazilian coffee exports to the Arab region reached $214m in 2011, a 35.88%increase, compared to the previous year.
Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce general secretary and CEO Michel Alaby said: "The increase in revenue during the first six months of 2012 is a strong indication that we are in the right direction as we continue to cultivate healthy trade alliances between Brazil and the Arab world. In this regard, the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce remains firmly committed to provide strategic support to further expand the market share of Brazilian coffee exporters in the lucrative Arab market."
The Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce has been established to boost economic, cultural and tourism activities, and facilitate the flow of information between Arabs and Brazilians.
